i tried those in the past but nothing worked i had to go on accutane and i have never looked back. i know there are many warnings about it but scars can last for years and the face is where people first look. you do what you gotta do

I’d LOVE to do Acutane! One of my favorite makeup Youtube, Taylor Wynn, used it. Unfortunately I can’t do it because of the risks. I have checked. :(

They are! I use a pretty basic Korean cc cream that works decently on my face. I’ll have to look at the brand when I use it next, I got it from a friend. What products do you use on a day to day basis?

my skin used to be really oily before I used Accutane now its relatively dry, I was given a moisturizer and a strong sunscreen. it was supposed to make my skin dry but compared to the extreme oiliness of the past I LOVE being dry. I am lazy with the moisturizer and the sunscreen doesn't cross my mind lols (money waste). I use a light face wash daily and do a honey and yogurt face mask here and there. I should probably do more but my issues were hormonal rather than cleanliness and all that good stuff.

A dumb thing I once did.  took a whole raw aloe vera branch, scoped the jelly added cinnamon to it and then directly put it on my face. it burned and I took it as a sign that it was working. I had a reaction and my face was beet red for hours and burning. I think that stuff was supposed to be in concentrations and not 100%. made me think twice about what I put on my face

I use cetaphil face wash and moisturizer. It’s got spf in it, so it’s great and easy to use. Quick application and works as a primer in my experience too!
My worst experience with a burn on my face was with proactiv. It exfoliated my face too much then when I put the toner on, it actually burned me. I walked around with bandages on my face for two whole days because the air hurt.

oh no! its too bad the only way for us to know how our skin will react to something is to try it on our skin and suffer the consequences. I use a green tea tonner before makeup

Idk how old y’all are, but I had really bad cystic acne as a teen, on my face, back, chest, you name it. I mean it was really horrendous.
I tried everything - benzoyl peroxide, retin-a, clindamycin topical, adapalene (before it became OTC), oral doxycycline, oral minocycline, you name it lol. I wanted to go on accutane but my parents wouldn’t let me because I would have to take birth control and they’re super conservative, so that was a no-go. It eventually somehow cleared up on its own... perhaps my hormones finally balanced out, idk. I still get acne these days around my time of month, but not nearly as bad as before.

Anyways, my pharmacist is older and has started developing cystic acne. Her dermatologist put her on spironolactone. If your acne is hormone (androgen mostly) and sebum-driven, that could be an option if it hasn’t been tried before. Full disclosure though, the drug itself is meant to be a diuretic and blood pressure pill and messes with potassium levels, so needs constant monitoring. And it takes a few months to actually see an effect. But could be worth looking into if you’ve got nothing else to try.

Cystic acne is wild and left me with some scars lol. I kinda wish I was allowed to try other things as a kid.

I am happy it cleared for. as for the scars it either you wait for them to fade with time or try laser treatment. A bit on the expensive side but the face is the first thing people see and has a lot to do with a person's self-esteem. self-esteem is expensive but it is something that down the line will be glad you did.

all that is left of my acne are hyperpigmentation and I am seriously considering laser treatment from my dermatologist, but I gotta wait 6 months after I stop taking Accutane because the skin is still sensitive and the drug stays in the system for a while.
