Why do people keep calling e-fashion rebranded emo fashion? I am genuinely asking, because aesthetically they're little alike??? And like, emo fashion was clearly Western to me, whereas e-fashion looks to me like it's drawing inspiration from Harajuku styles and Korean fashion to Western mainstream?

Oh! It's because they both share the internet culture isn't it! Emos had myspace and now there's instagram. Right?
i def see the inspirations from korean fashion but harajuku fashion is A Lot more over-the-top than your average e-person. no matter what type of harajuku youre looking at (decora kei, fairy kei, etc) the point is to really just go all out bc it developed as a subculture specifically in response to people who like to dress like that being told that they shouldnt wear it in public, its too much, its embarrassing, etc.

as for the similarities between emo and e-fashion, part of it is the internet component like you said, crafting a persona and making your page look rad. it's lost the component of the usage of web graphics but there's still the picture editing and filters.

but i'm not really sure how you don't see the resemblance? imo e-fashion is just what would happen if emo became a thing in the late 2010s. the building blocks are all there: lots of jewelry, dark brows and eyeliner, dark clothes + bright hair, chokers, band t-shirts, belts with chains on them, sleeves with thumb holes cut in them, long-sleeved black and white striped shirts under t-shirts. just a few things off the top of my head
I see much more resemblance between e-fashion and scene fashion. But then my main reference for what an e-girl is is Belle Delphine, when maybe it should have been Billie Eilish? Who I have gone to great lenghts to avoid seeing anything about because the way people talk about her creeps me the fuck out and I'm tired of looking at adult men thirsting after teens and 20 somethings when they themselves are 10 years older.

Anyway the Harajuku influence I see mostly in e-girl makeup and the hair. And far as I've seen e-fashion uses plenty of pastels and neons, which is why I don't see the resemblance aesthetically with emo fashion at all. Except the band shirts, that's true. In conclusion I'd describe the clothes used in e-fashion mainly as neon grunge, if that's even a thing, and my idea of emo fashion is the good old black and white Black Veil Brides stan looking person.

Right, and I get why people compare the two now though. It's my own perception of things that has me all ??? about it.

yeah, i shouldve said that there are some e-girls that don't fit in to what i've said, but the vast majority do. if belle delphine is what you picture in your mind when you think of e-girls then i can understand the confusion. you can kinda see what i'm thinking of if you literally just type "e-girl" into google images

Lately I've been using a 'face soap'/cleanser from Lush and a teensy bit of rose oil after, it seems to be working really well and my skin has been feeling super soft & glowy!

Gentle cleanser -> antibacterial toner -> nourishing serum -> moisturizing cream (I just love Miya’s coconut one). Also a peeling and a face mask once a week

for my morning routine, i use purito from green deep foaming cleanser, cosrx snail mucin, cerave pm moisturizer, and black girl sunscreen spf 30 sunscreen. for my night routine, i use iunik calendula complete cleansing oil, purito from green deep foaming cleanser, cosrx snail mucin, some by mi aha-bha-pha 30 days miracle serum (3-4x a week), cerave pm moisturizer, and cerave healing ointment.
this routine has helped a lot with my hormonal acne, dry skin, and hyperpigmentation, but i recently ordered etude house- soon jung 2x barrier intensive cream, etude house- soon jung ph 6.5 whip cleanser, etude house- soon jung 10-free moist emulsion, iunik centella calming gel cream, and cosrx clear fit master patches to try a new cleanser and moisturizer. the iunik centella calming gel cream is super lightweight and dries quickly. i'd recommend it for oily skin types.

AM: Cerave cleanser (the turquoise one, because the green one feels like grease to me), Altruist 50 SPF. I will soon change the SPF because it's too much for me, probably will go back to Avene.
PM: Cerave cleanser, Cerave cream and once a week a BHA+AHA peeling for my acne scars. Since the The Ordinary one is out of stock, I use the Revolution one.

cerave facial cleanser, cerave lotion for rough and bumpy skin, Indian healing clay mask ( i only use 1-2 days a week) and manyo factory galactomy niacin essence, really good for acne prone skin. I've also tried adding the cerave with spf in it but it leaves a white greasy looking cast over my face and when I tried to apply with other skincare products I noticed it balled into little flakes and sorta fell off lol
