He didn't seem to understand that this has pretty much ALWAYS been the case, ANY man and ANY woman can get married for ANY reason and claim benefits, and somehow(lol) our country wasn't utterly decimated. But he couldn't quite wrap his mind around the idea that things really won't change too much by extending the same freedoms to gay couples.
