i do not conflate every jew in the world with israel, but it is true that about half of the world's entire jewish population lives there. that does not mean the government is fully representative of them and approved by its citizens, certainly not in recent years and CERTAINLY not right now, but many polls have been done on whether israel should exist and the highest percentage i can find of jews saying no is 11%. and it's true that people have been antisemitic in their comments about israel whether intentional or not, it can be a subconscious thing or they just spread someone else's antisemitism without recognising it for what it is. my opinion on what is and isn't antisemitic will always be informed solely by what i see the majority of jewish people saying, because it's not entirely my place. i have been a victim of antisemites targeting me a few years ago which is what initially got me passionate about this, but it was quite surface-level and nothing compared to what jews who are far more connected to their culture experience in their lifetimes.
the reason jewish people needed a safe place is because they were treated horribly and expelled from not only western countries, but virtually everywhere they have gone, after initially being expelled from their homeland. a large amount of the jewish population of modern-day israel returned there to escape persecution in the middle east and north africa, where there used to be tens to hundreds of thousands of jews, and there are now almost zero (or actually zero in some countries). doesn't take a genius to work out what happened to them.
but there are many, many reasons why israel exists in the way it does today, western countries have helped but israel does not exist solely because of them. several massacres and wars led up to it. arab leaders of the british mandatory palestine collaborated with hitler and his crew during their reign, and in 1947, after the UN voted to partition palestine, the mufti-led arab higher committee published a leaflet stating that they have taken the "final solution" into their own hands, to be "solved only in blood and fire". several massacres occured against jewish people in the first half of the 20th century, and lots more before then, so they absolutely didn't "live in harmony" pre-1948, like i have seen many people suggest, whether they are being clueless or deliberate with their attempts to rewrite history. the US is probably israel's most important ally & they are close for a multitude of reasons, it does send money to israel, quite a significant amount for israel but a drop in the ocean for the US. never lived in the US so it's not really up to me, i don't have any impact on that. i overall don't think it's good for either if israel is reliant on US aid. i wouldn't say it is totally but it does a lot.
i am just talking about what led up to israel's reformation from around the 20s to 40s here because that is what i think your reply was concerning, what happened after that there are many books about already, and i'm not sure if it would be a productive use of my time to write all of that here. obviously inhumane things happened afterwards at the hands of israel and palestinian militias, easy to find out about and everyone who follows this closely already will know about them. it does feel a bit tone deaf to not mention the nakba which i don't deny, there are lots and lots of events that are important because of the huge length of this battle. i have already spoken a lot and i am not an encyclopedia, just a person
