@SilentlyScreaming Exactly this! I mostly drink diet sodas and drinks but when I was younger, if there was soda and it tastes good, I would drink it without a care in the world. Honestly, now when I see crazy foods coming out on shelves and reading the label on the back, I am generally shocked (& not) at the same time of how many calories it is for 1 serving. Same with when new fast-food releases. I almost believe that my United States government is certainly bending the knee for all of these rich food companies because of how addictive food has become ever since the tobacco company leaders decided make food their next target since the 1950s-1960s.

Think about it, the fast-food companies are denying that their food is not good for them even though it has sent people to the ER because of health issues. They also will fight back against certain regulations if it attacks them by using bribes for our government officials and/or lobbying. It honestly makes me sad to think about this.

yeah u end up drinking juice or soda when the water is unsafe to drink. ive lived in food deserts (had to go 40 mi for fresh produce/healthier food). our water was contaminated with arsenic from local mining operations. it was never fixed. my options for water were
1. use a water filter to try to remove the arsenic. this only worked so well. the water filer i had access to removed some of it but not all of it.
2. buy bottled water- this is really expensive and wasnt feasible for me.
3. drink soda (i would drink diet)
4. drink juice (i would water mine down with my filtered water
5. drive 30 miles to a safe pump to get water for the week.

anyways the water there made me sick most of the time. my stomach hurt a lot living there. i typically drank aloe juice mixed with water so that way i could stay hydrated since aloe is good for you yk. anyways i just have opinions on this is all. people that drink more soda are usually in areas where the water isnt safe to drink.

Daaamn I keep hearing about contamination in tap water. The piping and stuff was a great idea like 100 years ago, but I can only imagine the corrosion....We used to have a natural spring, where we could fill gallons for free, I used it for baby formula 12 years ago. It's all dried up now, they closed the site. I'm not very knowledgeable on water treatment plants, what they do, how they work...but I can't help but to imagine the same water getting filtered over and over and over, from toilets, prison showers, you name it...I shutter to think about it. Everyone deserves clean water. It is the essence of life. I'm sorry to hear that's something you had to endure :(

I hear about a lot of that too! I just heard NYC is going through a contamination (not sure if that's accurate) and the first thing I thought of is the piping, but definitely the dumping too, it's sickening. Activists can only do so much, it ends up being more of a fart in the wind. The government has to care at some point. They'll care when it's a problem for them *eye roll*
