Ximboland democracy failures and how to address it
could we get back to when we were talking about suggested changes for the site? i would be glad to hear if anyone has any feedback about my ideas or anything to add.
to elaborate a little on that and park discussion, i know for a fact that a former FP (poison black) had a strike system and kept track of what strike people were on using a spreadsheet. it wasn't perfect especially since not all FPs followed it but i think something like that would be a good base for a better system of coordination and keeping track of punishments. it's better than well... nothing

So a few things:
1) Please remember that elections quickly come around. I trust in the Ximbo community and I trust they will always vote for the most reasonable, well spoken and fair people. I expect people to vote for people whom have Ximbolands future and success in mind as opposed to voting for selfish annoying people whom just want to fight and/or be unreasonable. Therefore if you want to have a leadership influence here in Ximboland its better to remain calm and reasonable and to use kind words even in the midst of conflict with someone you really dislike.
The ballot box will not lie - the most reasonable people would and should win. Remember the electorate are here reading your posts day by day. And they are not stupid so wont take kindly to nonsense.
Talking of these elections I would like to propose the idea of having 3 monthly PB terms as opposed to the 4 monthly terms at present. At present we have 3 elections in 12 months and I am proposing we have 4.
What do you think about this?
2) I am also proposing a new start from Feb 1st.
There is no point in people banging on about things that happened previously because what is done is done. Everyone was doing their best under the rules and the republic of Ximboland of the time. Some people got banned and lots of feelings have been hurt but all we can do is work together to create a better future. So shall we let bygones be bygones?
Broadly speaking I have observed that we appear to have 2 loosely formed but competing factions that could be crudely summarized as the 'Dynasty party' and the 'Cowboy Party'. It is clear that these 2 parties are not going to get on. There is already too much water under the bridge.
Personally I see that as a positive thing as opposed to negative. it means we have 2 conflicting groups of Ximbos with differing values whom should be able to keep each other in check and help Ximboland grow. No doubt there are other parties or groups of alliances and friendships that are outside of these 2 parties but these 2 appear to be the 2 whom are in conflict in this thread. I can't pretend to know about the detail and it seems its far too intricate for anyone to comprehend so its simply better let it go but also resect the opposition and understand these 2 parties are likely to be competing for power for the short term in Ximboland. So the question for me and the issue that is my main responsibility is to work out how we foster an environment where these parties can openly compete and be in conflict without it getting ugly and by getting ugly I mean one party exiling or executing the other party first and foremost.
How can we create an environment where lets say the Dynasty party lose an election and concede their election loss graciously but vow to come back stronger and win the next election?
And the Cowboy party win an election and kindly and sincerely thank their opposition in the Dynasty party etc etc
This is where we need to get to free from exiling etc
How can we have threads like this that are open and honest but dont cross any lines into outright childish abuse and nonsense?
Over the next few days I will present my ideas in a new thread on how we achieve this though please do share your ideas.

1) Will it affect the rule of max 3 terms one after another for the same PB? If yes, how?
2) What is going to happen with SM elections? Are they going to be handled each 3 months as well, or is it supposed to stay the same as it is now (each 4 months)?
So far we had SM election in the middle of one PB term, and PB election in the middle of one SM term. It means we had some kind of election each 2 months (6 times per year). If PB terms become shorter, ie. instead of 4 months there will be 3 months and also 4 PB elections per year instead of 3, what do you think about on how dynamics is going to change?
And speaking of election (both PB and SM) how they are going to overlap each other?

Yes SM elections would be every 3 months as well so we would have an election every 6 weeks.
And yes that would mean we could extend the number of terms PBs can sit.

Three months might be short as well as 6 months, a lot of other factors may play a role so it's rather relative.
I agree it certainly shouldn't be shorter, 2 months wouldn't be enough for anything except a couple of contests maybe, but not for any real change. Consider only a few topics such as:
1) rules change
2) staff change
3) SMs change
All parties involved including PB, staff, SMs, TB and players have to get used to these changes. It is not good if there is too much in a short time frame because there won't be time left for any actual change. As soon as players get used to new faces and new rules most likely, there would be new election and so on. So anything less than 3 month won't work well imo.
On the other hand, having elections more frequently (each 6 weeks instead of 8) may open the opportunity for more players to get involved and take part. The financial pressure would be less as well. That's important topic too for many. Ex. instead of paying $40 (sub) + about $50 (top ups) it will be reduced to $30 (sub) + $20 or $30 (top ups). Of course, numbers are relative, I considered the minimal amount, but it still makes a difference for the single person, $50-60 is still less than $80-100 per term for one player. That alone may encourage more senators to take part in elections, also more players to become senators in order to participate. Hope it makes sense.

Update on the thread situation.
After receiving multiple reports and even private messages to remove/edit etc specific things from here since they don't add anything to the topic. I and MissBimbo had a talk and we came to conclusion that the reports must be adreses.
So there will be some cleaning to the thread but don't worry your President MissBimbo has seen all of it.
As before no forum bans will be isued or jails for the stuff posted in here until this.
After this post the forum rules that apply to the rest of the forum will apply also here.
