Friday 13th is a great day for anything spooky and talking about superstitions. You are welcome to write your own spooky story, tell us about local urban legends or local superstitions you find funny or amusing but spooky. Ghosts, possessions, demons, summoning, playing with Ouija, aliens, lights flickering, orbs... Anything works as long as it is weird and spooky. whatever comes to your mind. If you feel comfortable talking about it and find it fitting, you can also tell us about personal weird or paranormal experiences that left you freaked out or at least a bit puzzled.

Rules:

There are no rules when questioning reality, your own senses, sanity and perception!

Topic is open for all citizens. If you feel so, you can even complement your story with a fitting outfit (this is not a fashion contest, but why not?), a song (YT link), personal photos of strange occurrences if you have some or pics from the web if it is about some local less known legend, superstitions, a strange or paranormal spooky event.

If anyone has some good urban legend stories it’s definitely me. I grew up in Tennessee and there was no shortage of urban legends there. From skinwalkers, Bigfoot, haunted dirt roads, and endless ghost stories tennessee is no stranger to the supernatural. The most famous story has to be that of the Bell Witch. In Adams, Tennessee, there is an old cave with a property attached to it. Claimed to be cursed by an evil spirit only known as the Bell Witch the property dates back all the way to the 1800’s. The Bell Witch is believed to be some kind of Native American spirit as the property is on a Native American burial ground (shocker) but it’s never been confirmed. They did find skeletal remains in the sides of the mountains as that’s where the tribes in that area buried their dead. The Bell Witch has been said to torment the Bell family through their entire time living there. The oldest daughter of the family was the main target. She, along with the rest of the family, reported her getting dragged across the floor by her hair by an unseen presence. She would go on to report that something kept hitting her across the face when nothing was there. The family would corroborate her story by taking note of giant welts and bruises across her face. The family would hear banging on the cabin walls as well as feeling the house shake and vibrate with no known cause. Disembodied voices and laughter could be heard throughout the property. The father claimed to see a black creature with red eyes in the fields and upon coming back to kill it with a gun, it was gone and never seen again. Stonewall Jackson himself stayed on the property at the same time a friend of the Bell family did. While the father, the friend, and stonewall Jackson were sitting outside talking about the Bell Witch, the family friend challenged her, telling her to do her worst. He shortly after fell over and died of a heart attack. Stonewall Jackson never went back to the property. One day at the climax of the activity, the family woke up one morning to the father laying in his bed, dead. The mother found an unmarked bottle on the nightstand and believed it to be poison. The rest of the family then heard a disembodied voice essentially admit to the murder. It didn’t take long for the family to realize who did it: The Bell Witch. The only paranormal case in history to be linked to an actual death (by a ghost). It was said that at the fathers funeral, disembodied church hymns and laughter could be heard throughout the cemetery and only ceased when the last person left. believe in her or not, the Bell Witch has left a historical mark in Tennessee and all of the locals certainly believe her existence. Zak Bagans with Ghost Adventures did an investigation there. I recommend watching the episode for more info! Even though the house is too old and unstable for anyone to live in it, the cave where most of the activity is believed to stem from is open for tours Along with the rest of the property. Compared to the previous story mine is rather bland and unimpresive but stay with me.
My childhood home is quite old and has been ours for 6 generations. It's located in country side far from other houses and big towns.
When I was 13 I woke up from strange noises. Freaked out! After callming down and listening to it a bit carefully I knew what that sound reminds me - someone is rearanging furniture. Odd thing to do at 3am and in the attic. Thought my mom has lost her mind and went back to bed. In morning when asking my mom about it she lokt at me and told that's the ghost grandpa always scared us as kids. Ofcourse I loughted about it. But it happened again after a month. Since I was sure my damn brothers are messing with me I made my father go up there with me to chek out what makes that sound. But there was nothing except some cardboard boxes with old clothes, toys, holiday stuff. Some onion strings and tea left to dry(hanging bouquets in strings). I asked my grandpa to tell me the old tale once more. I didn't remember it very well cos he told us it when we were 7 or 8. At that time we thought he just didn't want us to go to attick cos the house was old and nedeed some repairing.
The tale goes that there was a young beautifyl maid who got pregnant before marriage (at that time it was lookt as the biggest sin there is). She felt so desperate that one calm summer night took her own life by hanging herself in the attack. She was found only after a week since she went missing. Everyone thought she run away with the man who put her in that situation or she left alone cos of the emberasment she felt. It says that there was found a simple brooch with amber in her hand that no one had seen her wearing and an overturned chair at her feet. Some big chests where in close distance - people at the time asumed she used them to reach the roof rafters to tie the rope that she used.
Fun fact my room was just below the place she did it. Before that I lived in one room with my youngest brother. But after turning 13 I insistest to have my own room so some rearangments was made. I don't know if the tale is true or was meant just to scare new girls to be cearfull around men. But I know what I heard. And after hearing it the third time it made me scared enough to always put music one when I went to bed to avoid possibility to hear them again.

this is kind of bittersweet in a way, but this is kind of a supernatural-ish experience i had. my uncle chris died in december of 2020 after less than 24 hours on hospice. this was before i went back to work after coming home from college for the semester. i would stay up until the sun came up before going to sleep because i had nowhere to be.

i knew my uncle was sick, and it happened very fast so i didn't get the chance to see him one last time. but the day that he died, i went to bed at 9:00 AM. he came to me in my sleep, called me by my birth name, and told me everything was okay and that he was okay.

i woke up in the late afternoon and my dad told me my uncle had passed around 9 AM and i told him i already knew. he was my godfather, so he was always special in my eyes so any sign from him is nice.

in fact, just recently, spotify recommended me a song by a band names uncle chris, and i ended up really enjoying it! so that's my story, not super scary but it furthered my interest in the other side and the paranormal!
