I've definitely noticed posts getting downvoted too, I think it's a little naive to pretend it's unintentional. I get that it happens sometimes- I've accidentally disliked things I meant to like- but like miesha said this is consistent (and not just in this tread). Seems like a few people have a weird grudge against LGBT users unfortunately.

And unfortunately, I do not feel very safe continuing to tell you the truth. It feels like this environment is hostile and I fear the outcomes. Which is why I have yet to add more thoughts on the manner, but I’ll still be here to provide some support to everyone else discussing the topic.

This isn’t something new, I’ve noticed it happening in other threads too, and it’s... not hard to tell why or who’s doing it. It’s just alarming to see that this consistent is even carried out to a very serious thread like this one. Which is one of the many, many reasons why we need secretaries—this might turn for the worst and I think having people who can protect us is important if that does happen.

I think if there's a queer or trans person who is willing to do the work of being a minister, that it would help. I have also noticed that LGBTQ people asking questions or objecting to transphobia or homophobia or racism get warned or jailed mighty fast and that queer and trans people, especially of color, are getting downvoted. I expect the same 3 people who have been downvoting everything in this thread will be downloading this comment in a second, case in point. It's super common for LGBTQ people who name problems, to be viewed AS the problem by cishet people. And it's super common when people of color name racism--or bring up anything that as harmful--to be labeled "troublemakers." If there are folks who are willing to take on the job of minister for various marginalized communities, great. Or, I have been wondering since I got warned for a total nonsense reason with no appeal right on the heels of getting banned on another social media platform for saying my identity, dyke, also with no possibility for appeal, if it would make sense to ask or advocate for some kind of appeals board so if someone is abusing their power and targeting LGBTQIA players or BIPOC players, or even just don't understand what the issue a BIPOC or queer or trans person is bringing up MEANS--like I don't know that everyone who makes decisions understood that LilyAnne calling traggot "boy" was not just misgendering but also racist, and that has been lost in the conversation, and would an appeals board be able to address that when people were being harassed or warned or jailed in the forum for essentially being queer and asking clarifying questions or asking a certain staff member not to attack people?

I agree with what queerla said in her last post. There's definitely a lack of people understanding the problems involving LGBT people on this site or just straight up being LGBTphobic and getting away with it, apparently. Continuously disliking posts literally just asking for us to be represented in your staff isn't something to just brush off like it's nothing. Isn't there a way staff can see who liked and disliked posts?
Even if we aren't going to be able to have LGBT staff beyond just the tokens for some reason, I feel like all staff members being required to take some form of LGBT history course along with POC history would help a lot. Maybe even if we still have LGBT staff put in place. Knowing the history helps a lot with understanding reactions towards certain things that might seem weird to cishets or white people.

I’d love to have an lgbt secretary but it would need to be a position filled by at least three separate people. A gay cis man isn’t gonna have the same worldview as a trans lesbian for example. There should be multiple points of view so as many aspects of the lgbt community can be represented and the community members can feel safe in their knowledge that they have members from their own community representing them. This would also help prevent what happened to origin to happening to a new lgbt secretary. They would have backup from the other lgbt secretaries. As for duties? Their job would be to talk to the lgbt community on here and make sure they aren’t getting discriminated against and giving the community on here a bigger voice.
