There are long-acting ADHD meds, like Strattera, that are not supposed to cause rebounds the way short-acting meds do.
Some people also take multiple doses of their short-acting meds throughout the day to affect the rebound. Your prescriber may recommend a half dose later in the day to decrease the rebound but so as to not be too activating & keep you awake at night.

anyone on concerta??? do yall get super mild but extremely nagging headaches from them?? hehe

I tried Concerta 2 years ago. I came off it because it made my potassium drop & then I developed heart palpitations. I went to the emergency room & they didn't know what to do, but my psychiatrist thought it was the Concerta (which also matched my clinical knowledge). So, I'm on Adderall now.
Headaches are a common side effect of Concerta. Check with your prescriber regarding whether or not you can take something for headaches with Concerta. I know some medications you can't take ibuprofen with, some you can't take paracetamol with, etc.
If you think the headaches are not worth the benefits of Concerta, you can also talk to your prescriber about trying other meds.
On a different note, I took my Adderall this morning but I don't want to do anything. I'm off work today, so that's alright. But, I'd like to be productive around the house & unpack after my move...

I have it, I was diagnosed at 16, I don't know why it took so long there were plenty of signs, my doctor wanted to put me on meds but my grandmother (my guardian at the time) yelled at her and told her I didn't need meds so here we are today.
i forget if i've contributed here already HAHA, but i've been dx'd with combined-type ADHD & indefinitely medicated since age 11 after trialing every medication under the sun, save for methamphetamine (i aged out of the mental health system in my country before we could trial it!) and have found no medication to bring me to a level of normalcy comparable to my peers, but i take tyvense to provide at least some clarity; would be adderall as i took in the USA, but it is illegal in my country to prescribe, such a shame!

on the topic of palpitations, i know most if not all medicated for ADHD will experience a higher resting heart rate, but has anyone any insight or experience into this and how it impacts life?
has the increased heart rate stopped anyone from doing things, like, i don't know, riding amusement park rides, taking party drugs, taking treatments such as HRT (ie testosterone can thicken the blood), that kind of thing? or has it just caused day-to-day nuisances like breathlessness, quick to fatigue, discomfort when trying to rest, etc? i know certainly the latter i struggle with, the incessant thumping makes it impossible to nap lol!!!
so sorry to hear about the palpitations especially when the ER couldn't do anything to help, it can easily make one feel quite vulnerable, i hope the switch to adderall has helped :)

I have a friend who suffers from ADHD (self-diagnosed via an online survey as she cannot afford healthcare) and she is always late to everything. Very frustrating behaviour, so I had to cut her off.

i've been thinking about getting on meds for it but i keep hearing about the adhd medication shortage so it hasn't felt like the right time. i've been experimenting with going the energy drink route but i don't think i've really found my brand/flavor. for the energy drink connoisseurs in the thread: what are your faves? i'm looking for tasty ones to try out!
