I read the Percy Jackson books in school! They were very fun and easy to follow for like the grade level I was in. I just finished reading On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous and now I’m looking for my next read :-)

ive recruited honey beee to read "a golden age" with me, a historical fiction about east pakistan's revolution/the creation of bangladesh post partition. rehana is the main character and a mother, so a neat perspective on a revolution. there's a pdf online!

small update: since my last post I've finished "a golden age" as well as "half of a yellow sun" by chimamanda adichie. the latter is about the biafran war/nigerian civil war that followed independence from britain in the 60's. a difficult, but fascinating read, not in the sense that it was particularly high level, but it shows the perspective of multiple victims of war and the realities of post colonial struggles.
right now im half way through "home fire" by kamila shamsie, a modern adaptation of antigone with a british muslim family as the main focus. its turning out to be a quick read, and im quite enjoying it!

not sure if this thread is still being used but i finally read We have always lived in the castle (only took me 3 full playthrough's of preachers daughter to read, super quick read) and i liked it! those girls r crazy omg but i really liked how it was written and it made me emotional so i'd recommend it it if you like weird stories, or if you want something you can read in like two sittings.
i have no idea what i'm going to read now, wanted to get bones and all from my library but not a single library in my county has it. sad. would love some random recommendations ^^

I've been reading Someone You Can Build A Nest In, about a formless, hungry shapeshifter who meets a human woman who she falls in mutual love with... but the only kind of love the shapeshifter has ever known was the type of love she was born in -- the kind of love you can "build a nest in," by which she means to plant one's eggs in the body of their beloved, and hope the body is adequate to nourish the baby slimes when they are ready to be born. She is learning how to love less destructively, as the story goes on. Loving the perspective of a character who is absolutely not human identified. Sapphic horror fantasy romance. <3

MISTER DEATH’S BLUE EYED GIRLS by mary downing hahn. NO BODY ever knows about this book but it’s so so good i sob to it every time.
long story short it’s based on the author’s life & takes place in the 50’s. its about a group of popular high school girls about to go on summer vacation & on the last day 2 of the girls are shot on their way to school & the killer is never found.
this book is so so good too because the author tells the story from different character perspectives. for example it shows one of the girls ex boyfriend’s pov after her death when he gets blamed for their murder. it also shows the murderer & the murderer’s little brother (who her forced to be an accomplice) pov. it also shows the girls who died povs from before they died.

Currently enjoying the audiobook of "Witch Please" by Ann Aguirre.
The last 2 books I tried to read I just couldn't get into & gave up on. (One is a murder mystery that my mum said she'll try to read. I'll see if she enjoyed it any more than I did.) Before them I read another witch novel I mostly enjoyed, but I thought it was slow moving. There were multiple chapters in a row where nothing happened.
