Someone else said their outfits were being copied.  Recently.
I think this was a goth theme person, and the style being lifted was goth.
the bimbos name is on the tip of my tongue…
I want to see those outfits now.

looking at the two side by sides makes a big difference, doesn’t it?
if the court wants to make copying or even borrowing a thing then I’m all for it.
I want to see more examples of copying and borrowing.

Hi all, first off I would like to preface no one is getting banned. My idea behind this trial is that Miss Bimbo has been excited to prosecute bimbo's for fashion crimes, and me and halo discussed that this would be a fair way to do a trial, rather than picking someone random and going "you've got bad fashion! grrr!"
Prosecuting someone for copying fashion seems like a good route to go down, rather than prosecuting someone for their fashion choices, as we know this is subjective and can cause a big headache.

So without further ado, I present my side of the case.

I first spotted indigodream copying my looks when someone sent me screenshots of the outfits a couple months back. This upset me, not only was indigo copying my looks, but was also getting praise for them. I don't mind people visiting my profile and using the diamond feature to have a look at how I've layered something or dressed something, I think it's quite a compliment actually. I've spoken to many people about how I've layered something, even sent them screenshots of how I've done it so people don't have to spend the diamonds for it themselves. I'm happy to help anyone be creative. But it's important to acknowledge what taking inspiration from someone's outfit looks like, versus outright copying. Furthermore, not once has indigodream messaged me asking about my looks, leading me to believe indigo is copying them hoping that I wont notice.

I would like to present my case as indigo is not naively doing this. I have thought about the possibility that perhaps indigo is just enjoying dressing up and likes the way I have designed those two outfits, this could be the case, but I doubt it. It's not one copied outfit, its two. Not only that, but again I preface indigo has gone out of their way to copy an outfit, but has not so much as even messaged me saying "damn, I love your outfit so much I'm going to copy it" - If that was the scenario I would've asked to please take inspiration from it, not just outright copy it. I would also like to add, indigo has chosen two outfits with huge dresses on, the arguably easiest to style, because half the outfit is covered by the dress. By copying these two outfits, its far easier to copy the layering, because the dress is so huge.

I would now like to break down exactly what has been copied, with screenshots. Thanks to the new update posting screenshots is a nightmare now, so please bare with me. I may have to post multiple times.

OUTFIT 1: is an outfit I created with L, for the Ximboland Xalentines day competition. You can see our entry here. It is based off of Christine Daaé from the 2004 film The Phantom of the Opera. Specifically, this scene. This is pretty specific in my opinion, but we can argue that perhaps indigo also decided to cosplay Christine, in the exact same way as I did.

I have cross referenced everything that is the same in outfit 1, by going to indigo's profile and spending 10 diamonds to view the outfit. The UI conveniently shows me everything in the outfit I already own, and also adds that indigo has indeed added her own items to the fit, but in my opinion, it is not enough to stop it being an outright copy.

Now lets look at the two outfits side by side.

imageimage

My main takes from this that I believe indigo has copied this and not created this look themselves:

12 items are exactly the same.
Why is "pale arms" above the sleeves, and not behind?
Why have "Alyssamoon2.0's Bottom Lashes1" behind the eyes, you can't see them?

I bring attention to this because I believe indigo has seen the list of items in my outfit, bought as much as they could, and slapped it all together. Not paying attention to where things are supposed to be.

OUTFIT 2: is an outfit I created for the Easter Masquerade Ball. You can see my entry here. If you read the contest description, this is also somewhat to do with Phantom of the Opera (clearly I'd recently watched it and was in a ballgown mood). The contest is basically a masquerade ball at Easter. This was my second contest I hosted during my time as PB, the first one was the prior outfit I displayed. This one isn't a cosplay of anything, so that can be ruled out.

I have done the same method to cross-reference the outfits as I did with outfit 1. This outfit has more of indigo's own addition to the outfit, which I appreciate, though I stand by my opinion that it is not enough to stop it from being a direct copy.

Again, side by side.

And again, it's clear indigo has copied this and not created this look themselves:

23 items are exactly the same.
Indigo has not directly bought the same hair extensions as I have, but has replicated the same style. For example, "school3 - silver blonde", I have also used "school3 - silver blonde". Though this doesn't appear to show that I have, perhaps because it is a slightly different variation and not the exact same item, I'm unsure, or perhaps its a bug.
image

at least they have added more of their own items, though in comparison to how much is already identical, I don't think it weighs up.

In one or both outfits, the lips are the same color, the eyes are the same design and/or color, the dresses are the same color, the hair is the same color, the background is the same, the digitals are the same, there's pieces of makeup the same. There's items I've bought specifically for layering purposes, which on indigo's outfits are either incorrectly placed or hidden/out of view. If indigo has not used the diamond feature to copy my outfit, I ask why they have these random items identical to mine, but out of view? Why were they purchased?

I'd also like to round off that it's not the using of the diamonds feature that I take issue with. That feature is there, people can use it how they wish. What I take issue with is that we live in a fashionable republic, each outfit should be someone's own, and not blatantly copied. Take inspiration from my outfit by all means. Maybe you like how the hair is layered, and decided you wanted to replicate that - by all means go ahead. But maybe do it on your own outfit, maybe pick a different color? Do you have to copy the entire thing?

Finishing off, I'd like to propose some potential updates in light of this case. 1) The feature to look at someone's outfit should be more than 10 Diamonds, that's ridiculously low. 2) The player who is getting their outfit looked at should receive a portion of the profit made, after all, they put in the effort to create the outfit, should they not receive a little B$ from the items bought, or some Diamonds from the initial spend to check the outfit out? 3) The player should receive a message notification from the mailman that says something simple like "indigodream just checked out your outfit!" when someone spends the diamonds to view your outfit.

personally i think viewing items in outfits should go back to being free. the 10 diamond fee was added to deter copying but i dont think it does that.

it deters curiosity. anyone set on copying an outfit will just pay the diamonds, regardless of how much it is. there is no reasonable number that will stop copiers. imo the fee just takes the fun out of seeing how other players design their looks

Does the prosecution have any evidence that can establish exactly when the offending outfits were created?

Seems to me such crucial evidence would be required for a guilty verdict. Otherwise, how do we know Cherri didn’t copy her outfits from indigodream?
