Thank you so much for the post...
please don't worry, you weren't spamming the thread at all!! i just wanted to make sure the forum guardians don't come after both of us so i moved the conversation here just in case :)

i've heard people say lavender or the scent of lavender helps with sleep, but i have not tried it! if you try it, please let me know if it works. alternatively, i've heard that Olly sleep gummies help (Olly is a brand for research reference). but i believe it is not recommended you take them every night, or else you'd get addicted i think.

and distractions are always great sometimes, just make sure you're doing healthy distractions of course! starting a new hobby could always help jumpstart this, since you can't go outside (trust me, i know that feeling ;-;)

and i'm really sorry about the pricing of medication :( i really hope you're able to get good alternatives. i can always try to research home remedies to help you out, since i really do understand your situation! additionally, please don't feel like you can't complain :( you're always allowed to vent no matter what!!

i really hope this helped someway!

I never thought about lavender to help sleep. I either smoke or take largactil or just distract myself.
I've got an aromatic diffuser or whatever its called. I might buy some lavender oil and see if that works. I'll be sure to let you know although I might not be able to get out of the house till monday or tuesday.
I've never tried sleep gummies. I wonder if I can get them at chemist warehouse lol.

I'm so glad you understand, omg you're really sweet. Yea, it's weird as soon as I leave the house I go H*ly Shit I didn;t lock the door I am going to get broken in and everything will get stolen. (Even tho its not realistic) and then I'll have worked myself up so much I don't wanna go out again. It's really nice to know someone who understands and have been through the same similar things.

Umm...
This might be a bit disorganized but some thoughts after reading the last few posts...

Yep, psychiatrists are expensive. I pay $235 for 1/2 hour...even when it switched to telehealth...which is why I haven't seen that doctor since August....sometimes your main doctor will prescribe refills if they get records from the psychiatrist proving what you're on. They just  don't want people coming in & asking for meds they don't really need. (At least, I used to have a doctor who did that. She isn't working anymore.)

Medication can be cheap or it can be expensive. It depends on how old the medication is. Drugs that have  been developed recently tend to be more expensive. I have literally only paid $3 for some of my medications & then $400/month for another. I refused one that cost $2,500/month. I even saw a new antidepressant came out that was like $30,000+. I said to myself, "Well, who can afford that?"

Olly & many other brands sell melatonin. From my research,  there's a controversy. On one side, some people get "addicted" in the sense that their bodies stop producing its own melatonin. On the other hand,  some doctors say that could actually be good because our brains convert serotonin to melatonin. So, if they stop producing melatonin,  that means we have more serotonin available. Some people need more serotonin available to help mood; others get "serotonin syndrome" from too much. It just depends.

There are non-melatonin sleep supplements, too, like valerian, L-theanine, & chamomile. One of my doctors a long time ago recommended taking allergy medication at bedtime because it makes people drowsy. Interestingly, when I tried it back then, it didn't work. But, for 4 years now, I've been on a medication that is both an allergy medication & an anxiety medication & it usually helps me sleep.

oh yes!! like ^ CinnamonSugar said, allergy medication works on certain people! i take it sometimes for actual allergies... then i end up knocked out at like 8:30 pm even though i don't use it for sleep, so maybe check that out as well! but if it does work on you, i recommend taking it early... sometimes you may end up oversleeping due to its strength :/

and yes melatonin has quite the controversy, but it's always a little scary taking it so often because it does have side effects outside of addiction so please be careful.

and this is just my own thoughts on that money situation: ridiculous!! who the hell has 30k for medicine???? i swear, these kinds of things make me hate capitalism more and more. i guess i really live up to atheista's politics because honestly if i had it my way, EVERYONE should have free access to medication as long as they show the need for it through sessions, which would also be free.

Thank you for your post :) CinnamonSugar

Geez, 200 for a 1/2 hr session is still alot.
Yea, My GP is pretty shitty. She gave me the rod/implant. I asked constantly for birth control since I was on my period CONSTANTLY since she inserted the rod and i was bleeding for 4 months straight. I had to go to the medical centre and get some prescription birth control their. Shes been super shit with everything. Even with mental health. She always gives me referrals to headspace (it's like a free counselling thing here but its really dicey esp. since im in a rural town. My partner has ADHD and Aspergers and they treated him soooo shit. They told him that he's not actually hungry but he's thirsty. even tho he knows his own body wtf. and a variety of other shitty malpractice.)
But yea, my GP is super sh*tty. She even denied I was having a miscarriage even when I travelled to a city to get a ultrasound.
There's only a handful of GP's in my town most always have old fashioned ways of thinking.
I haven't tried the gummies or melaton vitamins.
I know its unhealthy but the ways I get to sleep are from smoking g, taking largactil - this doesn't make you pass out just stops the delusions and paranoia or take a bunch of phergans but I know this is super healthy for my body.

I hope you guys have better GP's and are able to get the support you need cause god damn rural towns.
