Okay so my mom found my new tattoo and she's pretty upset,, i don't really understand this because it's my fucking body
Is she very religious?
My sister-in-law has a tattoo & her mum is upset about it because she cannot be buried in the Jewish cemetery with the rest of the family because Judaic Law forbids tattoos. Some other religions may have similar rules.
No. she's just asian and for some reason asian moms violently hate tattoos. it's in a place under my clothes so it shouldn't affect my future professional life either..

that sounds really frustrating i'm sorry :(( i'm west asian so i definitely understand, my family doesn't really allow any tattoos except religious or ceremonial ones... it's so dumb. it's not like the tattoo is gonna hurt anyone and yet they act like you killed 4 people in front of them

:(
The "therapist" I finally got into see after months of waiting is a University student intern (Bachelor's degree)...

She wouldn't even tell me how many classes she'd taken or how many other people she has practiced her counseling skills on. I asked and she was super vague. She said something like, "I wish I was allowed to tell you."

interesting how even now that i have validation from several doctors and my therapist that ocd is indeed a disorder i'm struggling with and i'm specifically medicated to treat my ocd symptoms in particular, i still feel like i'm faking the whole thing because i'm not a neat freak :'D incredible how much misinformation media can make you internalize.

Obsessions & compulsions absolutely don't have to be related to neatness.

Years ago, my frequent handwashing was considered obsessive-compulsive. I am still a skin picker. Hair pulling is another common obsessive compulsive behavior.

For some, it appears as counting & placing meaning in certain #s. I knew someone whose obsessed with counting the ceiling tiles in rooms. Some people count floor tiles, steps, etc.

exactly!! on a rational level i do know i experience both obsessions and compulsions but ocd is so misrepresented everywhere i still feel like a fraud. although this idea that i'm somehow faking things is a regular occurrence for me re: mental illness in general. i'm constantly questioning the symptoms i have and accusing myself of exaggerating them.

content warning: skin picking, scars mentioned

i'm not sure if i have ocd but i DEFINITELY have a skin picking disorder, like 100%. it's honestly awful and the scars are so painfully easy to see because they're on my right leg, under my knee. but i haven't picked in a few weeks i'm not really sure why. i think it's because i've been keeping my hands busy with work rather than letting myself have the time to pick.

also i haven't been on much today because i've been having severe body pains and i barely got the strength to log on now after a few hours of just laying in the bathroom

My understanding is that skin picking disorder (which also goes by other names) is technically a separate disorder than OCD but it's considered related to OCD because it's an obsessive-compulsive behavior. I apologize that my previous comment wasn't clear.
