Hey, sorry if this is unusually superficial. I swear I'm not trying to force a character here, I just think you guys might understand this better than other people I'd try to vent to, cause, y'know, bimbo site.

I feel kinda bad about myself right now??? Like, before the pandemic, I was working out a lot, I was buying pink things, I would paint my nails and I had blonde highlights and I wore makeup a lot, I'd look at outfit inspo online and I would spend hours on clothing websites adding stuff to my wishlists, I was trying to find ways to make money to buy the clothes I liked, and I was modeling for a local hair salon.

I think now I'm a lot more depressed, I've gained a lot of weight, it's hard to stick to a hygiene schedule and I spend a lot of the day lying around. I pretty much wear the same 4 outfits, some combination of jeans and a T-shirt. I feel like so many of my fashion/lifestyle goals have been postponed or I've lost interest in them entirely. I haven't worked out consistently in forever, maybe once every other month. I can't even remember the last time I washed my face with soap :(

Obviously, I have way bigger struggles than this with my depression, I just feel really bad because I used to be really pretty and I thought I was gonna be more pretty and I think when quarantine started I went into like-- a depression hibernation?-- and I feel like I've lost myself? I don't feel motivation to take care of myself, let alone doll myself up. I don't like what I see at all. I want the pandemic to end, but I also wish I could get a head start so I don't re-enter the world like... this. I don't feel confident with myself at all, but I don't have the motivation to commit to fashion anymore. Does anyone else struggle with this w/their depression?

Lei, I think a lot of us are struggling with some of these issues due to the pandemic and lockdown.
I know that lockdown looks different everywhere and that some places didn't get hit as hard.

Exercise: Where I live, the gyms closed down and the gym I belonged to never reopened, although others did. Even the hiking trails were closed with the rangers enforcing it. Parks & playgrounds that had fences were locked. If they didn't have fences, they were wrapped in construction tape to prevent people from using it. So, obviously, my exercise routine was interrupted. Not only could I not go to the gym, I couldn't take a hike or do pull-ups at the park. The last few months, though, I have been trying to get into a home workout routine.

Clothes: Again, with lockdown and nowhere to be, many of us probably don't dress like we used to. I definitely live in my jeans. But I do try to rotate which tops I wear.

THAT bitch

my anxiety is so severe that i cannot leave the house. even when i'm in my own house, i feel extreme anxiety and have constant thoughts about what could go wrong. i have so many intrusive thoughts about something bad happening to me or my family and i am just so tired of living this way. i've asked my mom about possibly trying medical marijuana because i've tried so many prescriptions and none work as well as i need them to. but she doesn't get it and thinks i just want to get high and i'm so tired of it. i just want a medical marijuana card so i can have some sort of a break from the constant torment.

I cleaned my room today. For real cleaned with shout and everything. I'm really proud of myself. It's been a disaster for a while. Definitely not the worst I've ever let it get but it was decently bad. I'm excited to sleep in clean sheets. I also reorganized my bookshelves with my kpop stuff. I'm just really happy that it's done and I can be comfortable again. Myself and my space is always one of the first things I fall behind on when my depression gets bad but I don't want to let it get to the worst again. That was awful. Everyone deserves a clean, comfortable space.

Congrats, Ezra, on cleaning your room. It's great to accomplish something.

Princesperske, I have never tried vaping and I'm not sure it's any better than vaping. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about your options. I know there are some prescriptions that can help people quit.  I know someone who had success quitting smoking with a prescription nicotine pen. You can read about it here https://www.pfizermedicalinformation.com/en-us/patient/nicotrol-inhaler

Crazy, you are not alone. Others on BL, including myself, are also dealing with abuse and/or trauma.  I am impressed that you are aware that you cycle in this manner. It's only been in the last 6 months, that I was introduced to the idea that trauma sufferers cycle through lows of depression and "highs"--not necessarily mania like bipolar disorder, more like being on-guard, anxious, in fight-or-flight.

And now, a random-ish thought... it's odd that clinical trials for psychiatric medication don't usually last more than 12 weeks, but a doctor will leave you on it cor years.

i need to just vent real quick. i’m in a residential mental health facility currently - which has been difficult enough to adjust to as is - but now i am quarantined as well, because my mom, who i last had contact with on thursday, has tested positive for covid. this is like a double whammy of sucks. and i feel so guilty, even though it’s not my fault. my roommate has to isolate in another room too and i just feel so horrible dragging her into it. i know it’s not my fault, especially because my mom hid her symptoms from me. it’s just rough.
