i understand (i think) alienprincefromvenus's point of view that homophobes won't get better opinions if we just screech at them and tell them to go away. but this is slightly different than just someone with gross opinions. because juggalo rights is correct in that jamie fae decided to spew his homophobia, completely unprompted, in response to a user talking about how they just wanted to exist safely in a country where LGBT people are regularly killed. pardon my french but does jamie fae have no fucking self awareness at all??? why would anyone do that unless they were trying to hurt someone. why would he feel the need to share that opinion there, you know?
and that's not even touching on the absolutely nasty insinuation he made in said comment that lesbians are perfectly fine, it's "gay male PDA" he dislikes. because ultimately homosexuality is fine when you can beat your meat to it, right?
don't get me wrong, i'm all for trying to be open and explaining things, especially lgbt things, because i have been told "google it" and left with no idea what to google or how. but jamie fae has been presented with multiple people telling him that his opinions are harmful, he has been given sources to look at, and he is either dismissive of or ignores these things entirely. i said in the other thread that i hope he sticks around and absorbs good things from our community, and i still hope that. but he's not showing that he wants to absorb this and i don't think people are wrong for continuing to be upset with him over it.

This witch-hunt needs to stop now. I get that a lot of players are upset, and for good reason, but following a player around in the forum to keep attacking them verbally is not constructive.

I didn't want to say it but this thing is starting to look a lot like the Siliconebody affair.
To give you all a bit of contest. Half a year ago a new bimbo called Siliconebody showed up and started demanding attention from people in a very offensive way. They demanded that people buy the stuff they made for the shops and were openly rude towards people who didn't but their stuff. We're talking really horrible stuff here, the kind you see in the popular online games. Telling people to commit suicide was a soft insult for them. I made the mistake of trying to help them with a payment issue and got insulted and yelled at for my trouble. This behaviour came completely unprovoked and anyone they didn't deem as "useful" was just a punching bag to them. This behaviour was not a one-time incident, it was recurrent.
Being the vengeful person that I am, I set out on a personal vendetta. Back then I hunted their posts down to dislike them, I used passive-aggressive taunts in messages and comments to provoke a response that I could use as evidence against them, I even created a whole thread dedicated to disgracing them with dozens of screenshotted evidence. Smart right? No.
I don't know about others or what they did but this kind of retaliatory behaviour is unacceptable. Siliconebody was an awful person with awful manners and an awful way of thinking. But they were still human and as such they didn't deserve the way I treated them. I let myself be affected by their words and I lowered myself not just to their level, but even lower than that. I behaved like a child and I am really sorry for that. I can't speak for others or what they did, but I talked to a few people and they also expressed regret over their actions in the matter.
I am not gonna let this happen again. No matter how bad someone is, they're human and they deserve some common decency. You are free to block someone 'cuz you hate their guts, you are free to poke voodoo dolls of them and you are free to say whatever you want about them in private. But please, don't use the forums as an outlet for verbally assaulting them.
Coincidentally, the people who have a problem with me over this should contact me privately. I know I can't be blocked and I don't want you to suffer my existence needlessly. Contact me so I can block you and we can both live happily ever after and enjoy the site for what it is: a dress-up game.
