discharge is always super scary, it’s good to plan around it. i find it helpful to make specific plans/goals and coping ahead if you’re starting to slip

Is your DBT part of a group?
Where I live, it is usually done as a group. So, after discharge, people may switch to individual therapy for continued support. 
If you are already in individual therapy, maybe instead of ending therapy completely, you can decrease the frequency. You may also find free peer support groups are beneficial. Your therapist can help you find these.

i’ll give a general content/trigger warning as a heads up just in case but i assume anyone who clicks this thread kinda knows what the topics are like so 

but as is probably obvious by my other posts and 16 day disappearance, i was committed to a psych ward ;/ there i started ECT, electroconvulsive therapy. i wanted to ask if anyone here has done it? i’ve done 3 out of (at least) 9 treatments so far. i was really hesitant mostly because of the effect it can have on memory, but everyone was reassuring me it’s temporary more often than not. but even before going into it, i had a bad memory…and like i said i’ve only done 3 but already it’s realllly messing with it. i feel bad bc people keep saying that i already said something to them or we already talked about something. the other day i actually thought it was 2021.. which kinda scares me. but i do have a friend whose father did it and it really helped him so i’m trying to stay hopeful

So sorry to hear love <3 I've had therapy on/off most of my life, was nearly in a psch ward but I was underage and my mum refused consent (UK law) as well as now studying/training in psychotherapy part time outside of my day-to-day union organising job. I can't say I've heard much about ECT, it's not widely used nor encouraged in Europe, and studies are conflicted, but they are about most therapies. I know it's still used in places like Turkiye.  I know different nations push certain therapies based on capacity because we're globally in a mental health pandemic no-one's talking about, and in the UK, the National Health Service pushes CBT because it's cheap, affordable and quick, and gets workers back into work quicker, but CBT isn't a "one-size-fits-all" - no therapy is - but then if people find CBT alone is helpful, then it is to them.

Are you receiving any other treatment other than ECT like psychodynamic therapy or talking therapies? 

Do you find it's helping generally?

i’ve done CBT & DBT work for years now and they’ve definitely helped me; just not quiiiite enough lmao

i’ve tried many different meds over a variety of drug classes but nothing has really worked out, hence why they wanted to try ECT. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at this point i figure i have little to lose since i can’t really function rip

i haven’t noticed any change yet but i’m only like 1/3 through it so ya know

after years of being in the lowest lows of my life i feel like im finally getting better. its so surreal because two years ago i though i wouldnt be alive for my graduation ceremony but now i finished school and im working on my portfolio for uni.
i know its hard but i promise it will get better :)

Can I become Prime Ximbo more than once?
Yes ­ a Ximbo can hold the position of Prime Ximbo for 6 terms max.
