I know some people that ketamine has really been helping!
Micro-dosing mushrooms and acid too

Well, I had a 4 hour long appointment for the clinical trial "screening" today. The study doctor & my own psychiatrist think I'm a good fit for the trial....

My mum, on the other hand, is not supportive of my decision to be in this clinical trial...not because she is worried about side effects or something legitimate...but rather because of stigma on her end. She believes that if I don't work 40+ hours a week, I'm a failure. She doesn't want me to take time off work to participate in the trial.

I really dislike the whole idea that if you don't work/work a certain amount of hours that you're a failure. It's bad enough having to work less than pleasant jobs for inadequate wages to get by. It also adds a ton of pressure to working. Like I personally take medication for anxiety and I started a new retail job last month and I'm always so nervous and anxious. I'm scared of not being good enough at my job. We're told to "always be working" so if I pause for a second to think about something I'm worried they'll think I'm not working hard enough. The medication definitely helps me though, I used to be in worse shape first year of university.

I hope things go well for everyone <3

Yeah. My mother & I rarely if ever see eye to eye.

I am still going ahead with plans to get in the trial. I had another "screening" interview today with the study doctors & another blood draw. If the blood work comes back normal, I should start the trial next Friday.

I’ve been considering going back to college when my moms health improves.
I had originally “dropped out” (I just stopped going) because my mom had gotten cancer and had fairly risky surgery and then due to the surgery she got a hernia…since then I have stayed by her side, and I don’t want to leave her alone because I’m afraid something could happen while I’m gone…
I do want to go to college, get a job, etc. but right now my moms health takes priority.

What kind of side effects, if you don't mind sharing? I've struggled with CMDD since my teens and have gone through more than a dozen different meds. While I'm currently stable with the meds I'm on now, "unconventional", alternative treatments have always interested me as a promising prospect for those who still find their depression intractable.

I've been on something like 30 "conventional" meds, ranging from older MAOIs to newer atyipcals & a fairly new topical one last year. But none worked.
The list of potential side effects from ketamine was pretty long. But given my lack of response to other products, it was worth trying.
I, personally, didn't have a drug trip. The doctor told me it's only like a 3% chance of a drug trip because it's not the same as street ketamine. I noticed I was sleepy within about 5 minutes. I closed my eyes for a bit but I don't think I actually slept because I started throwing up around 30 minutes. (I have to stay & be observed for 2-3 hours post-dose.) I hadn't eaten in several hours (as recommended). The study coordinator gave me a ginger chew & I threw that up. I threw up on and off for 2 hours post-dose. It was "fun." The two study doctors & study coordinator said it was the worst vomiting they've seen in the 10 years they've been doing ketamine trials.

More commonly, trial participants get nauseated without vomiting, get sleepy/tired/lethargic, headaches, dizziness, vertigo, altered sense of taste & smell, temporary numbness...I think the study paperwork said vague "mental impairment" was a side effect...probably some other common side effects but those are the ones I recall.

Holy cow! That does, indeed, sound "fun". That's really disappointing, I had hoped it would have gone well for you. I don't suppose it helped at all, did it? If you were even able to keep enough of it down...

It's not oral. I received it as a nasal spray. So it's likely some of it was absorbed. We'll see if I notice any changes...
