^was gonna say this too. I know straight up passing trans people who are scared to use the bathroom they want to. ive never been accosted in a bathroom by a trans person. theyre just pissing in a stall & trying to leave as fast as possible. but ive seen more than a couple cis women harrassed in womens bathrooms for not looking feminine enough!

All this conversation shows is that these weirdos have never interacted with a trans person irl, OR have interacted with maybe one outlier trans person who they found weird/annoying. its easy to scaremonger about a small minority that most people dont understand, & yall really fell for it

how many times have you personally been assaulted by a trans woman in a bathroom? are you followed into an alley & threatened at gunpoint on the daily for calling a person with a beard "he"? are you literally being arrested, fired, or facing literally any irl consequences for not liking trans people?

this convo is so crazy because it's literally such a non-issue - yall even admit that trans people are nagligible minority. it's just the rightwing 'outrage of the day'. because they always need something to distract people from real issues like economic disparity, eroding democracy, & sexual violence (which is almost always committed by someone you know & think you can trust - since yall dont interact with any trans people irl, id say you dont have to worry about that!)

7% of sexual assaults are perpetrated by strangers. Trans people are 4 times as likely to be the victim of an assault. These people do not 'have a victim complex', they are cautious of the likelihood because it is so common. I'm genuinely glad you have someone to help you feel safe when you need it. I wish that all women, including trans women, had that kind of luxury.

All of this stigma against trans women is the reason that so many of them choose to 'boymode' when in public. Its the reason that trans people are more likely to suffer from social anxiety and agoraphobia. They don't want to make other people uncomfortable, so they make themselves uncomfortable. The trans people and allies who stand up to the stigma and unfounded criticism are the loud minority. The entire reason that so many trans people don't medically transition is because of the stigma that has infected the accessibility of hormones. It is expensive if done privately, and takes years if done through public healthcare.

Right… and I think you’re forgetting that the vast majority of sexual assaults happen in unisex facilities. Which, you know, is what the women’s bathroom is turning into when they let these mentally ill men into women’s spaces. Like, if it wasn’t bad enough that women’s spaces were being taken away by men trying to assimilate themselves for fetishism it’s even worse then you realise they’ll gladly berate women at the drop of the hat if they don’t affirm them. I think because they perceive women as nicer and softer (which is typically true however a lot of women are capable of standing up for themselves), they want to be ‘one of the girls’ which is disgusting. You are a man you will never be one of the girls and you’ll never know that experience because your lived experience is one of a MANS.

most sexual assaults DO happen in mixed-sex environments - like a party, someone's car, your own home, or literally anywhere else. most sexual assaults DONT happen in bathrooms, regardless of if trans people are allowed or not. but good try lol

(theres also a ton of sexual assaults happening in single-sex prisons....by cis people of the same sex, & by male prison guards. why are you more mad about a hypothetical trans person than you are about the many non-trans-related rapes actually happening?)

the funny thing is that almost nowhere had explicit bans against trans people in bathrooms until the last decade. trans women been using the womens room way before that....& it wasnt an issue. stop falling for rage bait.

i'd say touch grass & actually interact with one (1) trans person irl, but with your level of pearl-clutching derangement that may actually be unsafe for the trans person

cybeles- If you have transitioned then yeah I'd be ok with sharing a bathroom with you. If men don't want to transition then what is the problem with them using the male restrooms? We women have fought for the right to have women only spaces and it isn't fair for men to take that away. I rarely hear anything from transmen in male spaces. In sports they aren't dominating and therefore transmen are not even in the discussions 99% of the time. Those rapes that you speak of are men raping men. lol Big surprise, men are dangerous to women and to each other. I think you guys are missing the point, trans have been using our bathrooms for many years. They have done everything to look like a woman and they are respectful. However the "new" trans look like dudes and they want to get in there without having to look like women which is questionable.Transmen here cutting their tits off and these bearded trans don't even want to shave it off. what we're saying tho is that pre-transition, early-transition, & non-passing trans women are rarely, if ever, using the womens restroom or locker room. when they are, theyre just pissing like everyone else - they're not trying to purposely make you feel uncomfortable (which is why most non-passing trans women continue to use the mens room long after starting transition - even though their risk of assault in the mens room is way higher than anyone's risk of assault in the womens room)

trans people are a small percentage of the entire population. trans women are an even smaller subgroup. trans women who actively have beards are a tiny section of that small subgroup. trans women who have beards & still use the womens facilities are an even smaller portion of that already teeny tiny percentage of people. it's so small as to be negligable.

how often in bathrooms are you actually encountering fully bearded macho trans women making no effort to pass as women? if you've ever actually encountered this - were they threatening you, or were they just using a stall & washing their hands?

(or are you just afraid of this incredibly rare situation bc of media fearmongering? be honest)

i can see you have been discussing well. 10 pages and counting - what an open space for conversation, mashallah.

however, if we're being realistic, most of you will never experience the issue of being trans or being a doctor who has to feed anyone the right pills.

what i can see though is a great passion for reading, learning, and discussing.

and i can see all of you, no matter what side you're on, could greatly use some islamic influence.

so, i have this beautiful idea for all of you who have been active here:

we should start a quran learning & discussion thread, where we can study different parts of quran every week and share our interpretations and opinions.

i see many of you like reading, quoting, and discussing, so i am sure i will see you all there. it will be a much more islamic use of this wonderful brainpower you've all displayed.
