I have huge issues with adrenaline rushes before bed and my heart starts beating really fast, so i gotta sleep on my back which takes ages but it does in fact let me sleep :/

if i focus on sleeping my focus drifts to other things and keeps me awake. if i don’t focus at all my mind drifts and i forget that i am trying to sleep. i have thoughts and worries all night not to mention general discomfort which keep me flipping over and over again. my pillow is never the right temperature. my shirt is wrapped around me torso. the technology in the living room is a bit too loud and my dog just scraped his paw against his kennel while he sleeps. i am now agitated so i open up youtube. i am pacified, but the light keeps me awake <33

I have a really hard time falling asleep and i have restless leg syndrome where i have the constant need to move around and kick my legs so i usually just smoke and listen to music till i finally fall asleep.
lately i go to bed n im rlly just laying there on my phone n ill almost pass out bc im sleepy but my phone isnt plugged in to charge while i sleep so im like wait im abt to fall asleep so let me plug it in n then when im prepared to sleep my brain is like no wait its not sleepy time anymore n it could go on until the morning n if im still awake at 4am ill just stay up n then go for a walk at 6am bc its warm now n i dont like walking in warm weather im a sweaty girl n then if im finally tired ill fall asleep n then whenever i wake up i just continue my day its not rlly coping

i don't have much trouble with sleep, sometimes i can't fall asleep easily and lay in bed for 2-3 hours until i fall asleep, but in those cases i listen to relaxation sessions on youtube or take herbal medicine for sleep
the doctor couldnt tell me he jsut said tell me if it happens again : )
my sleep hygiene is awful. stay up almost all night and sleep throughout the day. bleh

It's 4:30am and I'm trying to listen to a podcast to relax and finally sleep but it's not working bc I'm stressed about finals ahhhhhh
I've had a long history of insomnia episodes since I was 8. Best way I can cope is to take melatonin tablets. I also find once I'm awake I can't get back to sleep which makes needing a piss at 3AM Hell for me. I'm not a frequent dreamer, but - like this morning - I sometimes get nightmares or traumatising dreams. Such as last night, where - to put it short - a relative wanted to fuck me. Horrifying - adding on top that I am a zombie in the morning means this morning was ROUGH. Thanks, PTSD.

i used to get this weird thing at night where i’d feel like bugs were crawling all over my skin and it’d keep me awake. i didn’t have bed bugs or anything, so my best guess is it was some sort of restlessness. in those cases i’d just try to keep myself calm, focus on my breathing, and not pay attention to the clock because doing so just makes you more worried and creates a feedback loop. there was honestly not much else i could do, i tried a lot of different methods. if i’m awake because my brain is racing from anxiety, i find that listening to youtube or doing some self care before bed helps me settle down/distract myself
