if the level of outfit offensiveness is very subjective and moderation of it is a slippery slope then why are there outfit and theme rules for the pbfc? including ones that extend beyond offensiveness, such as themes that are too similar to past themes or outfits that are “stolen”? we’ve always had enforcement of those rules and i havent seen any widespread censorship or whatever is the presumed worst case scenario we’re trying to avoid here.

if there was an option to sort of put a "spoiler" filter on certain specific outfits, to warn that they are potentially triggering, the issue could be bypassed to fit the bimboland mentality of "everyone is free to do as they wish".
I see the slippery slope, and the potential "dictatorship" of outfits you guys probably fear, but I think the safety of players is most important, and given the outfits are publically displayed in the forum user's profile pic, and at the bottom of the page on recently actives, and in duels, and everywhere, if there is no filter that a player can enable to mask triggering outfits, the site disregards the rights and safety of some players in favours of others, instead of finding a way to make them cohabit, and until there is a way to enable both to exist
...
I believe, in the quite centrist view of bimboland, there is a way to make 'people can make looks as they please' and 'no one gets hurt" coexist, the way the universal declaration of human rights states that everyone is granted the same rights, but those only apply as long as they dont infer on other's. one's right to dress their avatar should not infer on another player's right to play comfortably without going through trauma
I think there's some really valid points in this thread. I just wanted to chime in and say I like the idea of a spoiler function for anything that might be triggering, and i don't think that would necessarily impact people who didn't want it either - for example there could be a setting to automatically reveal all images, similar to twitter. I'm wondering if this should be added to the suggestions to improve bimboland forum?

Thank you for writing out my thoughts. I didn’t reply because I’m exhausted with how every suggestion for the safety of players in this community is shut down somehow because “this is just a game.” God forbid some of you take the time to think about how someone feels and reacts to things. /sarcasm on that last sentence

While I see why people may get triggered or offended over outfits, I have doubts that policing outfits would work for few reasons. Offensiveness is subjective, and people experience things differently. That's why it would be troublesome to tell which outfit is offensive or triggering enough, because it can be a matter of perspective.

Secondly, this is a fashion game called Bimboland, so policing and hiding outfits fights against the sites main point. I don’t understand why we should hide our looks in a fashion game. I see it very unlikely that there will be such features.

As for the PBFC suggestion rules, we haven't had them always, earlier we went without rules at all. Rule that states to not post offensive themes is a very helpful tool that makes people actually think before posting their suggestion. It also helps us to prevent us from unwanted situations. But no matter what the theme is, someone is always going to be upset.
And at last, for the homeless theme, it's not in the poll, it's not going to be PBFC theme, and I hope you let this talk already go, I think the person who suggested it has already got the point.

this thread wasnt created just because of the homeless theme suggestion, that was simply the latest addition to a list of offensive and hurtful outfits.

i genuinely dont see what the big deal is. we are not advocating for massive censorship or moderation. we are asking for people to just be normal and thoughtful and not make outfits that are obviously supposed to be portraying domestic violence or human trafficking or other similar topics, and for there to be some avenue of enforcement or encouragement for this.

also, i only brought up the pbfc rules to demonstrate that the “slippery slope” argument isnt a valid one. outfits can be and are moderated without there being unfair restrictions or censorship as long as people care enough to actually moderate.

I'd just like to say, i know this thread is mainly about harmful looks but id also personally love a spoiler feature for looks. i tend to struggle whenever i see a look with a blunt/bong/other drug related things in it as someone who is triggered by that sort of thing due to parental abuse, id really like a way to avoid it because being exposed to drug related things have triggered somewhat intense panic attacks for me in the past

Every time we try to have a conversation about these kinds of things, we’re asked to “just let it go”... If we’re going to talk about censorship, then I’m going to go ahead and say asking us to stop talking about this stuff IS censorship—way more censorship than moderating offensive and triggering outfits anyway. This is why I barely interact with anyone on the site anymore. It always turns into this stuff when a very specific group of people brings up problems in the game. In fact, let’s not let this conversation die down if it really bothers some of you to this point. We can’t keep pretending that the only players on this site are neurotypical.

I don't believe there is anything I find offensive *personally*, BUT it would be nice to have more options for darker skinned dolls. There are limited full, ethnic lips, let alone full lips with color tones that can be visible on darker Bimbos. It sometimes feels like there are very slim options for dark skin. More variety would be my 2 cents!

as Juggalo Rights said, this isn't meant to focus on that one past event, though that was a bit of a catalyst to pointing out to me in others that there are some flaws in the system here. People are getting hurt emotionally by the lack of care and concern for these points. I can't really find a way to put this in perspective for anyone who hasn't experienced these things or are simply neurotypical.

neurotypicality is also in fact a valid point to make in case anyone is confused, seeing as autism is a spectrum and some are more predisposed to empathy and imagery of abuse or oppression can likely be triggering to those same people, even those who have not experienced it. That's just my input on that, anyone else who is in the same boat with a different perspective is free to put there's in as well or even correct me.

More skin tones is also a good idea as amara mentioned- though this thread is more focused on pre-existing or future looks that have been seen or will be made and caused mental or emotional harm.
